About this Blog

My name is Spekter, and I am an adolescent home horticulturist.  This blog is meant to document my experiences growing these amazing plants, but in a climate they are not accustomed to.  I hope to prove through this blog the premise of Logees’ “How to Grow Tasty Tropical Plants…In any Home, Anywhere.”  That is, I wish to prove that these plants can be successfully grown in an environment different to that which they are accustomed, and that I can actually supplement my diet with substantial amounts of home-grown tropical produce.  In addition, I discuss my other useful plants, including my carnivorous plants. Come along as I muse about my findings, my research, my successes, and my failures. In so doing, I hope to meet you all and learn some things in the process!  Namaste, and Good Growing!

What’s with the Dog?

The “dog” (actually a fennec fox) is my fursona, Spekter, as drawn by @thefallenwhisper on instagram.  Check out her amazing art!

What about the Title Background?

The tree in the background of the title is my ‘Meyer’ lemon tree, with an immature fruit growing on it.

Do you Have Bias?

It is impossible to have no bias.  That said, I try my best to present information that is both timely and informed.  My commentaries on this information is as level as I can make it.  I strive to be rational and just in my convictions, which I make only after thorough research and introspection.  I am a follower of the Dhamma, Buddha, and Sangha and therefore will express Buddhist views towards nature.  Other than that, expect little bias in my blog.

What’s the Goal of the Blog?

The main goals of my blog are as follows:

  1. To provide useful, entertaining information that is both informed and true.
  2. To provide relevant links to useful supplemental information.
  3. To provide an interactive community centered around growing tasty and useful tropical plants and to provide answers to any questions users may pose.
  4. To ultimately be a center of knowledge, community, and friendship.

If I am not accomplishing any one of these goals, please let me know and I will do my best to fix it!  We are a community of compassion and peace.  Sarwa Maitri.
